The Plan, aligned with the World Health Organization's global strategy to eliminate cervical cancer as a public health problem, focuses on three strategic pillars: 90% early vaccination, 70% screening coverage, and 90% access to treatment. These targets aim to drastically reduce the incidence and mortality rates of cervical cancer, which remains one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths among women in the country.
Adding weight to the discussions, Deputy Speaker of the House of Assembly, Hon. Madala Mhlanga, delivered remarks on behalf of the Hon. Speaker. He emphasized the importance of male involvement in issues affecting women, noting that: "Men must not be left behind when issues concerning women are discussed so that informed decisions are made.\" A moving highlight of the event was the testimony of cancer survivor Ms. Dina Andrade, who courageously shared her personal journey. She spoke about the fear, stigma, and widespread misconceptions that prevent many women from seeking timely screening and treatment.
