Kwaluseni - UNESWA Campus, 29 November, 2024
History was made when Speaker of the House of Assembly Hon. Jabulani Mabuza availed an opportunity for the general public to voice out their concerns and ask questions about matters that need to be addressed and in turn conveyed to the Executive. The Speaker said that Parliamentarians had a mandate to represent their constituencies. This was during the annual Parliament Wellness Day which was conjoined with the World AIDS Day commemoration and the 16 Dyas of Activism against Gender Based Violence held at the UNESWA-Kwaluseni Campus’ Sports Emporium. Some UNESWA students shared their common challenges which include low allowances yet the cost of living is ever increasing, food scarcity, rent and scholarships to name but a few. Others voiced concerns relating to the Ministry of Health for lack of medication and proper health facilities, low wages for textile workers and security guards who work long hours but get very low salaries which do not match the work they put in.
