During the State Opening of the Third Session of the 12th Parliament, President of the Senate Lindiwe T. Dlamini highlighted the continued growth and international stature of the Parliament of the Kingdom of Eswatini. In her remarks she reported that Parliamentarians are actively participating and excelling in regional and international platforms, earning key leadership positions in prestigious global bodies. Their contribution, she noted, has positioned Eswatini’s Parliament as a benchmark of excellence among its peers.
The occasion also marked two significant milestones in the life of the institution. Under the gracious hand of His Majesty King Mswati III, Parliament will witness the launch of the Parliament History Book - a comprehensive record of the Kingdom’s legislative journey and a testament to the resilience and steady growth of Eswatini’s monarchical democracy. In addition, the unveiling of the state-of-the-art Parliament Studio signals a new era in institutional communication, enhancing transparency, accessibility and engagement between Parliament and the citizens it serves.
Looking ahead, the President of the Senate highlighted that the Third Session of the Twelfth Parliament will be a busy and productive one, in the spirit of Nkwe!. Eswatini is scheduled to host the 60th Plenary Assembly of the SADC Parliamentary Forum, as well as the 23rd Annual General Meeting and 18th Conference of the Southern African Development Community Organisation of Public Accounts Committees (SADCOPAC).
