President of the Senate Champions Global Peace at IPU, Switzerland

The President of the Senate Lindiwe Dlamini, delivered a compelling and forward-looking address at the Sixth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament, held from 29 to 31 July 2025 at the Palais des Nations, United Nations Office in Geneva, Switzerland. The global gathering, convened by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in partnership with the United Nations, brought together parliamentary leaders from around the world under the theme of fostering peace, multilateralism, and sustainable development.

"The responsibility to safeguard peace and uphold democratic values lies not only with governments but with the very institutions that represent the voices of the people," Hon. Dlamini stated. "As parliaments, we must be proactive in building bridges, fostering dialogue, and promoting inclusive governance," she stated. Accompanying her was Sen. Fezeka Dlamini.

Preceding the main conference, the 15th Summit of Women Speakers of Parliament was held on 28 July 2025, also in Geneva. The summit focused on gender equality, the empowerment of women and girls, and the crucial role of women leaders in advancing peace and sustainable development. Hon. Dlamini, as a prominent voice among women Speakers, contributed to the discussions aimed at accelerating global commitments to gender equity.
