Happy Valley Hotel - Ezulwini: Joint Consultation on Climate Action and SRHR Integration, 23 October, 2025
The Deputy Speaker of the House of Assembly, Honourable Madala Mhlanga, today officially opened a joint consultation session at Happy Valley Hotel in Ezulwini. The workshop brought together Parliament’s Climate Change Sessional Committee, Gender and Development Sessional Committee, the Ministry of Tourism and Environmental Affairs Portfolio Committee, and officials from the Ministry’s Climate Change Unit under the theme “Aligning Climate Action with SRHR, HIV/AIDS Government Commitments.”

In his welcoming remarks, Chairperson of the Climate Change Sessional Committee, Hon. Sifiso Shabalala, described the session as an opportunity to share experiences, identify synergies, and develop actionable strategies for integrating climate change, sexual and reproductive health, and HIV programmes within parliamentary work.
Officially opening the session, Hon. Mhlanga emphasized the importance of such collaborations in strengthening cross-sectoral governance and driving transformative outcomes that improve the daily lives of Emaswati. Principal Committee Clerk, Mr. Mpendulo Ngcamphalala, later unpacked the committee systems, urging Members to work in unison, linking legislative frameworks with effective implementation.

Invited guests and presenters included Mr. Toivo Mwaala from SADC PF (Namibia), UNDP Sustainable Development Specialist Mr. Mangaliso Mohammed, Mr. Sifiso Nzalo from the Climate Change Unit, and Miss Zandile Masangane from the Ministry of Health’s SRH Unit.
