PM's Office First Quarter Performance Report Debate by the House of Assembly Portfolio Committee

During the Prime Minister's Office First Quarter Performance Report for 2025/26, Hon. Thandeka Mavuso raised concerns on the well-being of the Police force, particularly the practicality of shared housing arrangements. Other Members questioned the bilateral agreement with the United States regarding the deportees from the US to Eswatini, seeking clarity on the country's obligations, national security, and potential benefits, if any. Hon. Speaker Jabulani Mabuza advocated for an increased parliament budget allocation to enable MPs to represent Eswatini at international forums. He also called for improved security for Presiding Officers. On another note, Hon. Michael Masilela urged government to align salary reviews with the cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) and to urgently address the needs of the elderly and persons with disabilities by including it in the national budget. The Committee asked for a specific timeline for the return of essential medications. The Portfolio Committee was chaired by Hon. Nathi Hlophe.
