Secretary-General of the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS), H.E. Moussa Batraki, has expressed confidence in the Kingdom of Eswatini's readiness to host the Africa Region Parliamentary Group Meetings and the inaugural Africa–EU Parliamentary Assembly, describing the country's facilities and preparations as exemplary. Addressing members of the media during a press conference held at the Palazzo International Convention Centre (ICC), H.E. Batraki said he was impressed by the state-of-the-art infrastructure and conducive environment that Eswatini has put in place to host the landmark gathering, which is scheduled to continue until 14 May.
The Secretary-General was accompanied by the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Hon. Jabulani Mabuza, President of the Senate, Sen. Lindiwe Dlamini, and Eswatini's OACPS Representative and Member of Parliament, HRH Prince Lindani. H.E. Batraki noted that the Assembly presents a significant opportunity for meaningful dialogue between Africa and Europe, with discussions expected to focus on issues of mutual interest, including economic development, trade, governance, and sustainable partnerships. "I am looking forward to fruitful deliberations that will advance cooperation and deliver tangible benefits for the people of Africa, the Pacific and Europe," he said.
The Secretary-General also expressed his sincere appreciation to His Majesty King Mswati III for his continued support and commitment to the OACPS. He particularly acknowledged His Majesty's leadership and generosity demonstrated during the OACPS Summit in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, where the King pledged €1.5 million in support of the organisation's programmes and initiatives.
