Senator Tony Sibandze is currently in Lilongwe Malawi to attend a Digital Policy Symposium themed “The role of Parliamentarians in shaping our common digital future: An African perspective”. Senator Sibandze is a member of the Pan African Parliament (PAP), a Rapporteur of the Monetary and Financial Affairs Committee and a member of five other portfolio committees.

When officially opening the Forum, Speaker of the House of Parliament in Malawi Honorable Catherine Gotani Hara stated that it was crucial for Parliamentarians to be empowered on information technology issues in order to pass good governance policies and laws where digital platforms are concerned especially the internet. She added that she was hopeful that the outcomes from the discussions would feed into the whole Internet Governance Forum.
The African Parliamentary Network on Internet Governance (APNIG) comprises of 30 member countries across the continent. The aim is to have active Parliamentarians committed to digital development from all 54 African States.
