Portfolio Committees of The Senate and The House of Assembly for the Ministry of Information, Communications and Technology (ICT), attended a Data Collection Workshop to ensure that the envisaged Strategic Plan of the Department of Research, Science, Technology and Innovation (RSTI) is inclusive, comprehensive, forward thinking & responsive to the needs of Emaswati. In his official remarks, the Acting Principal Secretary for the Ministry, Mr. Nqoba Msibi said the exercise underscored the importance of developing a robust strategic plan tailored to Emaswati’s unique context. Chairpersons of the Portfolio Committees, HRH Sen. Princess Ncengencenge and Hon. Charles Ndlovu, pledged their support as technology & innovation were key drivers for economic growth. According to RSTI, benchmarking exercises were conducted in Rwanda, South Africa, Namibia, and Kenya. The Director of RSTI Dr. R. Maseko, also emphasized that research and innovation was key in order to ensure that Eswatini remains competitive in the digital age.
