The Deputy Prime Minister's Parliament Portfolio Committee in collaboration with various stakeholders celebrated the international World Deaf Day, under the theme: 'Eswatini sign up for sign language rights'. Parliamentarians were sensitized on the challenges faced by the deaf community. Hon. Senator Thulisile Dladla, in her keynote address said that her office will be providing sign language posters in all government ministries and public places including hospitals to help make the life of the deaf community easier. In addition, President for the National Association of the Deaf Eswatini, Makhosini Makhubu appealed to the nation to declare 'Sign Language' as an official language in the country. Makhubu asked the Parliament DPM Portfolio Committee Members of both Houses to take up the matter and amend the Constitution to accommodate the deaf community.
