Clerk to Parliament Benedict Xaba has implored learners of Mbowane Primary School to respect their elders and teachers, adding that they must never forget their humble beginnings. The school is located in the rural parts of Shiselweni where there is scarcity of water, poor fencing, terrible roads and scarcity of teachers. Xaba was speaking during a farewell function of two long-serving retired teachers where he was the keynote speaker. He then gifted the retirees Mrs Thembisile Gama and Mr. Joseph Gama (not related), with garden tools, blankets, hotel vouchers for a weekend stay. The Clerk did not end there, he also gifted the school with paint, a hundred trees and bags of rice. Grade seven students also received gift packs with assorted items as a form of encouragement. To add icing on the cake, he gave boxes of sanitary pads for the girls. Also in attendance, were the Minister for Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs Hon. Bongani Nzima, Shiselweni 2 Member of Parliament Hon. Bhekithemba Bhembe, Chief Executive Officer of Arts and Culture Stanley Dlamini, to name but a few. Xaba, the Hon. Minister Nzima and Hon. MP Bhembe, pledged to support the school especially with fencing. A tree was also planted as a symbol of preserving the environment from climate change.
