Bendict Xaba

Mr Benedict Xaba (born 03-March-1969) is a holistic leader with vast experience in leadership, governance and management.  He has more than 20 years of experience in leading both national and international organizations. On top of that, he served as Eswatini Member of Parliament representing the Shiselweni 11 Constituency from 2008-2013. In that same period, he was appointed by His Majesty the King, King Mswati 111 as a Minister for Health where he served the Nation with excellence, dedication and great distinction.

Mr. Xaba has also served in various Boards, both locally and also in world-renowned international organizations such as the Global Fund, specifically representing East and Southern Africa countries. He also served in the Stop TB Partnership Board in Geneva-Switzerland and as a Health Policy Advisor for the World Bank on TB and mining in the SADC region. Mr Xaba served as the Technical Advisor for Deputy Prime Minister through United Nations on the National campaign on SODV Act 2018 and Ending teenage pregnancy.

He served as a Board member of the Country Coordinating Mechanism (CCM) on HIV/AIDS, TB and Malaria as well The Coordinating Assembly of Non-Governmental Organization (CANGO). He is currently serving as the chairman of the Board of Directors for Eswatini Water Services Corporation and Eswatini Medical Christian University.

Mr. Xaba has also experience in working with the Local government and the civil society organization where he served as the National Executive Director for the Alliance of Mayors Initiative on HIV/AIDS at Local Level (AMICAALL). He implemented Global Fund and PEPFAR funded projects on key populations (Female sex workers (FSM), Men who have sex with men (MSM), People who Inject Drugs (PWID) and People Living with HIV/AIDS (PLHIV) and Adolescent, Girls and Young Women (AGYW).

In addition to his great experience and distinct personal qualities, Mr Xaba has a solid foundation in education with vast qualifications including a Master’s Degree in Development studies among others. He is currently the Clerk to Parliament where he is the Controlling Officer of Parliament and Secretary to the Parliamentary Service Board. Among other duties, the he is responsible for policy implementation, monitoring and evaluation as well as provision of overall policy guidance for the day-to-day running of Parliament. He is married with 3 children.
